Lakes in Tasmania

Lake Barrington
The man-made lake is found in Northern 40 km Davenport. It was built in Forth River in 1969 to give a head of water for hydroelectronic power generation.
Lake Beatrice
You can find the lake in Eastern Side of Mount Sedgwick in the West Coast Range of Western Tasmania. It is 10.5 square kilometers.
Lake Burbury
It’s an artificial lake found in West Coast Range of Tasmania created by Hydra Tasmania. Its sources of water are from the rivers King Nelson, Princess and Eldon Rivers.
Lake Dora
The lake was formerly known as Lake Misery. It’s a salt lake in the West Coast Range of Tasmania. The lake is named after a popular explorer’s fiancée.
Lake Dove
The lake is small based near Cradle Mountain. It is comprised of 1.5 acres and about 6 ft deep.

What makes Lake Filder distinctive is that it has two layers of water; anoxic salt water overflowed by fresh water. However, both of these layers aren’t mixing together that is why the lake is called meromictic .These meronitic development resulted from established hydro-electric power industry where fresh water of Gordon river moves to the lake.
Great Lake
Great lake is the second biggest freshwater lake in Australia. The lake is semi natural and semi artificial. It has a surface area of 114 sq mi located in the central region of Tasmania, Australia. Lake Leake

Lake Mackintosh
The lake divides Sophia River and Mackintosh river. It’s a Hydro lake nearby Tullah which is around an hour from Burnie. Kayaking, swimming, boating, picnic, and fishing are the primary routines in the river. Guided tours offered within its plateau include horse riding, and driving tours.
Lake Margaret
Visit the oldest hydropower station in Australia – Lake Margaret .It was once the supplier of hydro-electric power for Mount Lyell Copper Mine and Quensland town in 1914. The hydro-electric plant was shut in 2006. The lake is situated in the northern side of Mount Sedwick in Tasmania Australia.
Lake Pedder
Lake Peddler is the largest natural fresh water lake in Southwest Tasmania, Australia. It was named after the First Chief Justice of Tasmania named John Pedder. The lake was flooded in 1972, hence 3 dams were impounded modifying the lake to be more able in generating hydro-electricity. Just like any other lakes, Lake Peddler is also a place for fishing trout. Additionally, it has a salmon pound.
Lake Pieman
It is one kind of Hydro Tasmania’s lake situated Rosebery Tasmania. The lake allows boating and fishing. The shore close to the lake prepares a spot for picnic, barbeque and camping.
