Trout Fishing Tasmania

Holiday In Tasmania Australia
Head to the central highlands of Tasmania, seventy three kilometres north west of Hobart. With AllSeasonsCampervan Hire Melbourne it will only take a very short while to drive there. Bothwell is an old city, settled in the 1820′s by hardy Scots who settled and farmed in the area. There is even a river Clyde there and yes, Aberdeen Angus once grazed there too.
Besides the river Clyde, Bothwell is also home to the oldest golfing course in the Southern Hemisphere, at Ratho which was established in the 1830′s. It is a bit unusual for a golf course as the putting greens are square and rather than mowers, the fairways are grazed by sheep. The Australasian Golfing Museum is also there for you to visit.
Bothwell itself is a historic city with it’s heritage on full display, particularly round the Queens Park area where there are at least 50 stone cottages and houses with beautiful wide streets, bringing out the colonial feel of the area. Thorpe’s Watermill and the St Michael and All Angels Church are also worth a visit.
Any Scottish community worth the money has a whiskey distillery and Bothwell is not different. The Nant Distillery is actually one of Australia’s best and you may want to try some of the single malts available. As per things Scottish, is the trout fishing which is available too. It’s the sort of place you may want to spend the night, particularly if you liked your trip to the distillery.
If this is the case, The Monastery Country Lodge is a terrific place to stay in true country comfort. Bothwell is a nice tiny place to both visit and stay and if you enjoy the rustic ambience, not to mention the distillery and a golf course with resident sheep, then you will enjoy the unique qualities which make Bothwell special.
